How can you "walk" before God?

“When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless.” Genesis 17:1 NIV

Isn’t it amazing that God uses people at any age?  Yes, God can use you!  He can use you to be His messenger of good news!  In Genesis 17:3, God speaks to Abram when he was 99 years old!  And tells him to walk before God faithfully and blamelessly!   At what age?  At age 99!   In fact, I think I can be so bold as to say at any age!  God’s desire for us this new year is to walk before Him and to do it faithfully, to do it blamelessly!  Why?  Because He is “God Almighty!”

How does one walk before God?

Micah 6:8 states, “He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (NASB)

Micah, one of the minor prophets suggests that it is through humility and being just and kind in one’s dealings.   So far then, to walk before God, one must do it faithfully, practicing justice and kindness with an attitude of humility!

Abram was faithful and considered righteous by God (Hebrews 11).  He entered a faith relationship with God and was credited as being righteous!   He believed in God and trusted in Him.  How is your relationship with God?  Is it one established by faith?  Or are you relying on rules, or talent?  God wants us to rely on Him!  (Romans 1:17) As we do, He will use us at any age, for His Glory and purpose.

Not only does God go with me in this new year, but He wants to work in my life, using me as His servant as I walk faithfully before Him.   God does this… what do I do? Believe and trust in Him. It is by faith in Christ.

May He work in your life His good and perfect will this new year!

Blessings,
